1. CBS(O)/NIOS is one of the three National Boards; the other two Boards are (i) Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and (ii) Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE)-A private Board.
This Board follows both regular and no-regular stream of education.
2.Pass in minimum five subjects is the pre- requisite condition for admission in all Boards, unless otherwise stated.
3. Students admitted to Senior Secondary Course, even in regular stream, must ensure that for the purpose of obtaining a certificate at the Senior Secondary level, a two-year gap is essential from the year of passing the Secondary examination. If the student does not have the requisite gap of two years, he/she can appear in a maximum of four subjects only in the forthcoming April- May examination and subsequent October-November Examination. In case registered for more than 4 subjects, then first 4 subject shall be considered for appearing in the examination. The student will be eligible to appear in the remaining subjects only on completion of the two years gap. In the absence of the two years gap, the examination fee will be adjusted for the first four opted subjects and the remaining fee, if paid for other subjects, will be forfeited.
4. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has also intimated the Registrars of all Indian Universities vide their Notification No. EV /11 (354)91/ dated 25.7.1991) of its decision to grant equivalence to CBS(O)/N.I.O.S courses with those of other examinations of recognized Boards for purposes of admission to higher courses of study at Indian Universities e.g, IIT, NIT, National Law College, Central universities, State universities and competitive examinations.
